The heating and air conditioning
trade in San Diego is not large. The contractors all seem to be aware of one
another and keep tabs on work assignments. San Diego consumers get to pick from
a handful of first class companies. There are some, however, that do not
perform in the welfare of the consumer. So just how does someone tell the good
from the bad? There are a few methods that are pointed out below. Have a look.
All too often, our first
inclination is to use a heating and air contractor that we’ve seen on TV or in
the San Diego UT. Without a doubt, those of you who watch the Padres regularly
have noticed all the advertisements. Choosing one of these companies might not
be the best choice for your home, however. Furthermore, the yellow pages will
list all the local HVAC businesses in San Diego, but that doesn’t mean they are
all good. Who still uses the phonebook today, anyway? People also like to check
with the Better Business Bureau. They too, are a dues collecting service and if
a business is up-to-date on their payments, the BBB won't be eager to report
consumer grievances.
One of the most reliable places
to get a good San Diego heating and air contractor is Yelp. If you don’t
already know, Yelp is an internet platform that allows consumers to rate and
review small businesses they have used. This is a terrific resource as it gives
power back to the consumer and forces companies to ply their trade responsibly.
A Google search for terms such as
air conditioning contractor in San Diego or even air conditioner repair San Diego will
present some worthwhile Yelp business profiles right within your results. For a
Yelp profile to display on Google’s first page like that, the contractor
generally has to be good. You can even search directly within Yelp’s database.
Just keep in mind that Yelp has one of the most stringent filters of any
customer review website so most of the testimonials you read are real
customers, not fake testimonials.
Various other platforms like City Search,
Insider Pages and the Online Yellow Pages are usually easy for companies to
create fake testimonials so I wouldn’t trust them too much. Google reviews are
getting better, but they can be manipulated a little bit more than those in
Yelp. Just be skeptical if there's a large difference between the reviews in
Yelp and those in Google. An organization will generally have far more feedback
in Yelp than Google as well. If it’s the opposite, then I wouldn’t trust them.
Need a new heat pump, furnace,
air conditioner or ductless mini-split solution? Get the contractor you like by
checking their ratings and reviews. If you're in San Diego, double check their
status by searching the database of the California State Contractors Board.
